On May 11, the Elementary class hosted an “Evening of the Arts,” a special evening where parents and other guests could come and learn about patriotism. Each student participated in two different programs that we called Act 1 and Act 2. During Act 1, guests walked around the auditorium floor and listened to presentations from students about their projects. Some of the projects included dioramas of important people and events, others were art projects dedicated to the American flag or early US explorers, and still others involved memorizing a famous speech or making an important piece of American history out of clay or edible ingredients. During the second half, students were up on stage performing songs, dances, and original skits centered around the theme of patriotism. The final song was “America the Beautiful,” with some students playing guitar and others singing and moving around the auditorium, ending the amazing night with a bang. The students had great fun during the “Evening of the Arts,” and so did all of the guests there!
