The Elementary students have been working on jumping rope during Physical Education. Not only are they learning to jump into a large rope that is turning, but they are also learning to jump an individual rope. There are different sizes to the jump ropes, and the students are learning the basics of the skill, such as turning the rope so that they can jump it, the jump-bounce method, the rocking horse method, the cross-over method, and jumping rope backwards. Also, the students are timing themselves to see how many jumps they can do in 30 seconds or a minute, and they compare their scores with each other. Another comparison they make is how many jumps forwards in 30 seconds and how many jumps backwards in the same amount of time. It is wonderful to watch them have fun with learning to jump rope!
