All the students are enjoying this nice stretch of good weather and the children love talking about all the beautiful colors of the leaves. This is a great time of the year to go on a short nature walk in your backyard, around the neighborhood, or even in a local park. See if your children can name at least ten things changing in autumn. Keep in mind that using very descriptive words when talking about their findings is a wonderful way for your child to utilize all those special sensory vocabulary they are learning while working with the sensorial materials.
Writing Skills
Many of the students are completely engaged in developing their writing skills. If you come to observe the children in their classroom, you may see how they are learning how to control their motor skills when using a pencil with our metal insets or writing on the lined chalkboards and paper. Many of the students also write with the moveable alphabet.
Once your child is able to identify all the letter sounds they are able to write words that match pictures, make simple lists of things they might see from a trip, and the names of their classmates. Our more advanced students enjoy writing lists of items from special topics, messages to their friends, thank you notes, and stories.
I want to thank all of you for your donations for our PACS families and our successful Thanksgiving Luncheon. The children had a great time and the food was delicious.
